We had an awful experience searching…

We had an awful experience searching for a hotel. We put in the dates and it kept giving us hotels that did NOT have any availability. We lost 3 hours like that, ended up using another website.

Trivago is almost a scam

Trivago is almost a scam. They transferred my hotel reservation to a website (PriceTravel). But that website wasn't reachable to cancel the booking, even though the confirmation said "100% Refund". Nightmare. Had to go through my credit card company to resolve.

NOTE...THE REPLY FROM TRIVAGO TO MY REVIEW (AND OTHERS) IS JUST AUTOMATICALLY GENERATED. AND THE EMAIL ADDRESSES MENTIONED DON'T WORK.

Totally not recommended!

Totally not recommended!
Easy to book a room, but what a surprise!!it was to another hotel, and of course lower quality..they never responded to my request, or even to compromise somewhat!
Don't use it, don't be fooled by the low prices they offer...

No savings

I used Trivago to stay at a Days Inn in Ontario Canada. I booked for 2 nights then decided to stay an extra night. I paid the motel directly for the extra night. When I checked my credit card statement I found there was no difference in price. Which begs the question, why not just book directly with the motel/hotel yourself?

If I had to watch the commercial again...

The commercial that shows someone getting a better rte on check out than someone else on Hulu is annoying. Obnoxious and would cause me NEVER EVER to use Trivago. Crap Ad, Crap service.

THE ABSOLUTE WORST!!!!!!

I booked a room through Trivago but then immediately after booking I found that the hotel was NOT in the location that Trivago said it was. It was a sister hotel much much further away. I immediately tried to cancel the booking and I ended up on hold for over 35 minutes when I finally gave up and wrote them an email and a letter and sent them off. Bottom line, even though we tried to charge back the money on the credit card, for whatever reason (I dumped the card later) they would not let the charge back stand even though I sent them all of the documentation. I would have given this no stars if possible. This site is the worst possible place you can book a hotel.

Avoid this website!

I would definitely not use this website ever again. I recently selected a hotel in Australian dollars, which I had found on Trivago. I was transferred to another site. Firstly I was informed the selected room was no longer available. I selected a room for a similar price. However, I was charged in US dollars instead of Australian Dollars. The result was I paid substantially more than the price I had selected. I complained to Trivago, but they did not accept any responsibility.

Ripped off

Booked a room with Days Inn Wyndham Effingham Illinois. The event we were going to attend ( FUNFEST) canceled all but one day for event. We called and canceled our hotel reservations for September 14th through 18th of 2022 on May 10th 2022. We have just given that money to someone because we cannot get a refund. We should have called and booked directly, ended up costing us much more than we would have saved going through this company. Very dishonest! Lesson learned!

Just stayed at best Western in Felixstowe

Just stayed at best Western in Felixstowe for two nights .great staff very hardworking all of them good breakfast and Sunday carvery .rooms very well cleaned bit dated but very nice comfortable beds .would stay again .only criticism is there seems quite a lot of noise through walls from other people talking and TVs but having said that I sleep soundly so it didn't keep me awake . Some unfair comments on other guests feedback I feel .I enjoyed my stay 😊

Q:

I don't understand whether the free cancellation means you pay for your booking at the hotel or whether it has to be prepaid?

A:

It us free with Trivago yo cancel because Trivago doesn't charge you in the first place. They are a meta search. When you book you don't actually book with them. They were my go to search but every since Hipmunk came along I switched to them

A:

Prepaid, You will probably not get your full refund. It is an overseas location. They charge "foreign " transaction fees. It will also take months. I suggest book elsewhere

by Bailey076 - May 03, 2016

A:

After online booking and also online payment done if any case you cancial your booking then online canciles no charges applicable.

Q:

How do I post a gripe?

A:

I really don´t know. What i do know is that if you have a problem with a hotel site listed on Trivago they will deny all responsibility. Claiming a position as a "middleman"So if you book a room on the hotel site "Quicky Night Rooms" and they are based In Yemen that is where you have to go for redress. One of the most reliable web sites is " Hotels.com " They also offer a toll free 800 phone number and a price match gaurantee

by Jackson H. - April 01, 2016

A:

It is virtually impossible to post negative direct to them. They are out of country and not at all interested in you. I had 90 days of emails and other coorespondence that never resolved the billing issue. Finally I had to get my bank and credit card company involved. I got my reimbursement for their incompetence. They do read the negative postings though. Keep it up!

by Cameron405 - April 01, 2016

A:

The bottom line is good luck with that. Nobody cares and they may email you back but nothing will happen and i guarantee if you gave someone money for a service it is gone forever. There are so many rip off sites related to Trivago it is unreal.

Q:

Do you pay at the time of booking or on arrival at the hotel you book?

Answer This Question

Q:

How do we know the booking happens and is correct

A:

I would really be careful with this company! We had some problems that were looked after but it doesn't look like that happens for most people. Ours was not correct
